wildlife单数还是复数

①wildlife 是一个不可数的集合名词，且通常不连用冠词用作主语时，谓语用单数可用 much， little 等修饰，但不用 many， few 修饰。

如：

The wood is a haven for wildlife. 这片树林是野生生物的安乐窝。

There is much wildlife in the forests of Maine. 在缅因州的森林里有很多野生动物。

Wildlife is fast disappearing from our countryside. 野生动物正从乡间快速消失。

②但是，若特指（比如特指某一地区的“野生生物”）则可连用定冠词。如：

The increasing use of pesticides threatens the wildlife of the area. 越来越多地使用杀虫剂威胁到这个地区野生动植物的生存。

The human population in the region is expanding in inverse proportion to the wildlife. 这个地区的人口在膨胀，而野生生物的数量却在减少。
